Second Chance - Shinedown (lyrics) Just so everyone knows, this is Mr. Nick Perri on the lead guitar Barry Kerch is right back there My name is Brent Smith Once again, thank you very much for being here The next song that we're gonna do, um Was at a place and a point in my life where I had put up enough walls around myself About the subject of talking about my mother and my father and my upbringing The reality is that this is song came from The frustration of not being able to get these emotions out Through years of, of growing up with them I love them dearly, but this was a song A statement to them as to why I left home when I did And now doing what I dreamed about doing since I was born This song is called Second Chance My eyes are open wide By the way, I made it through the day And I watch the world outside By the way, I'm leaving out today 'Cause I just saw Halley's Comet, she waved And said, "Why you always running in place?" 'Cause even the man in the moon disappeared Somewhere in the stratosphere So, tell my mother, tell my father that I've done the best I can To make them realize this is my life, and I hope they understand That I'm not angry, I'm just saying That sometimes goodbye is a second chance Please don't cry one tear for me I'm not afraid of what I have to say 'Cause this is my one and only voice So listen close, it's only for today Well, I just saw Halley's Comet, she waved Said, "Why you always running in place?" 'Cause even the man in the moon disappeared Somewhere in that stratosphere So, tell my mother, tell my father that I've done the best I can To make them realize this is my life, and I hope they understand That I'm not angry, I'm just saying That sometimes goodbye is a second chance 'Cause here is my chance This is my chance So, tell my mother, tell my father, I've done the best I can To make them realize this is my life, and I hope they understand That I'm not angry, and I'm just saying That sometimes goodbye is a second chance That sometimes goodbye is a second chance That sometimes goodbye is a second chance Thank you
