The Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills went against each other in the Divisional Round of the 2026 playoffs.
The Bills have been dominant in playoffs in the past years but they’ve failed to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the past years. This year the Chiefs didn’t make the playoffs so it was a big opportunity for the Bills and QB Josh Allen to to finally reach the Super Bowl but there’s a new tough competitors in the AFC, including the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.
The game ended a draw in regular time (30-30 score). Extra time was added, the Broncos won 33-30.
Football coach Mike Tomlin has resigned as Pittsburg Steelers’ head coach after 19 years.
During his time as Steelers’ head coach he won a Super Bowl, made it to the Super Bowl twice and won more games than he lost in all of his 19 seasons.
The last time that the Steelers won a playoff match was on 15-Jan-2007. Supporters have been frustrated for years. On 30-Nov-2025 some fans were chanting “fire Tomlin” during the game lost to the Buffalo Bills, same in their playoff game against the Texans on 12-Jan-2025.
On 5-Jan-2026, Minessota Governor Tim Walz announced he would not seek re-election for a third term. The reason given was to focus on the investigations on massive welfare fraud cases and protect Minnesotans.
The Pittsburg Steelers just won the AFC North for the first time since 2020. Lead by 42 year old quarterback Aaron Rodgers, some thought he couldn’t do it but he did it.
The AFC North has been one of the NFL’s toughest division. The deciding game went to the very last game where the Baltimore Ravens played against the Steelers, the winner would be the division (AFC North) champion and also qualify for the playoffs.
A missed field goal by the Ravens in the last minute means the Steelers won 26-24
After 2 years absence from the playoffs the Seattle Seahawks have qualified for the playoffs. They have 14 wins and 3 losses, the best record in the NFL’s NFC conference.
They secured the top spot of the NFC after winning 13-3 against the San Francisco 49ers on 3-Jan-2026.

On his first day in office, 1-Jan-2026, mayor Mamdani of New York revoked a directive that barred city agencies and pension funds from boycotting or divesting from Israel, this means they are free to boycott and divest.
This is the revoking of executive order 60 by previous mayor Eric Adams prohibiting New York City agencies from participating in the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel signed one month before, on 3-December-2025.
On 1-Jan-2026, the Euro became Bulgaria's national currency. It is now the 21st country using the Euro. The former currency (Bulgarian Lev) will also be accepted until 31-Jan-2026, after that, it will be out of use. People will still be able to convert the Lev to Euros until 30-June-2026. 10[reply]
